We bring you good news stories from Riding Mountain National Park and the Riding Mountain international biosphere reserve area. We live in a time of media immersion and fascination with what is going wrong - crimes, war, global warming - all of which I believe we do need to think critically about and take personal actions to address these global issues.
Here, in my backyard - the Riding Mountains of Manitoba - we have some amazing people who are making a difference, in small and large ways. For example, the great story of the Clear Lake Golf Course which has shifted over the last 15 years to be 85% organic, uses locally collected restaurant oils that are refined into bio-diesel in all of its equipment, and composts its wastes without compromising the quality of golf that is offered. We have chefs and local producers who are passionate about quality food production, organic foods, and the preparation of amazing regional cuisine. Park researchers are carrying out research about wildlife, ecological systems, and the health of water systems. There are many talented craftspeople, musicians and songwriters who we want to tell you about. As in so many other communities, these people do exist. Our team at Earth Rhythms want you to know about them.
We look forward to bringing you stories, interviews, videos, and insights about people from the Riding Mountains who are positive, inspiring, and authentic. They are accomplishing things that we would like others to know about. We will also provide links to other websites and stories that we promise will only feature positive and uplifting and appreciative moments.
We live in times that are challenging. I offer you these stories and examples to inspire you to come to Riding Mountain and meet these folks. This is higher ground, physically and spiritually. Bring your friends and family. Hike, rest, enjoy good food. Most of all, experience Riding Mountain in any season and re-charge yourself.
