Travel 22 km (14 miles return) into the heart of elk and moose country, discovering mammal tracks and the remains of a German Prisoner Of War (POW) Camp in the national park's backcountry. A gentle and easy trail (fire patrol road) provides the main track.
This program is appropriate for adults, teenagers, and youths above 8 years of age. Travel is on backcountry trails, with gravel, grass, and relatively even terrain.
Includes: Earth Rhythms' guide services, snacks, stories and photos and guiding to the remains of the POW camp, dugout canoes, and other treasures from 50 years ago (1943-1945).
You require: National park admission pass, personal gear & clothing, pack-in lunch, and your vehicle to travel to Lake Audy and adequate physical conditioning for 8 hours of travel, walking, & biking. This program does not include bicycles or helmets. Bicycle rentals are available in the townsite of Wasagaming or through the Elkhorn Resort.
